Drawing dies are consumables. How we maintain them decides three things: surface quality on the wire, drawing energy per tonne, and yield.
We inspect and rotate dies on a fixed schedule and pull one out of service the moment its wear signature shifts. This is unglamorous discipline that pays for itself many times over.
The alternative — running dies to failure — produces a shift-worth of bad wire before anyone notices. We do not run it that way.
