Sustainability paperwork is now part of the RFQ
In 2026, sustainability data is a standard part of B2B RFQs, especially from European buyers. Buyers want to understand energy per tonne, water consumption, recycled steel content, transport emissions, and packaging waste. Suppliers who can answer honestly win RFQs where sustainability is scored — and even where it is not explicitly scored, it affects the buyer’s perception of professionalism.
Wire rod recycled content
Most wire rod produced in Turkey comes from electric arc furnace (EAF) mills — meaning it is made from recycled steel scrap rather than iron ore. That gives Turkish wire an inherent lower-carbon profile compared to blast-furnace wire from some other regions. Ask your supplier what percentage of their rod is EAF-produced and what the average recycled content is.
Energy per tonne — the operational metric
Serious wire producers measure electricity consumption per tonne of finished wire. That number reflects furnace efficiency, drawing bench utilisation and general operational discipline. It is not a marketing metric — it is an operational one.
Ask your supplier what their number is and how it has changed year-on-year. Directionally-improving numbers indicate real focus.
EPD and third-party verification
An Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is a standardised third-party-verified summary of a product’s environmental impact across its life cycle. It is time-consuming and expensive to prepare. Suppliers investing in EPDs signal serious sustainability commitment.
Not every buyer needs an EPD from every supplier — but if you are supplying regulated construction or automotive markets, ask.
Packaging and waste
Sustainable packaging (re-usable plastic crates, minimised plastic wrap, recyclable pallets) reduces waste at your plant and affects your own scope 3 numbers. Discuss packaging with your supplier through the sustainability lens, not only the cost lens. Seeour gallery for packaging formats we offer.
Frequently asked questions
Do you supply EN 10204 3.1 inspection certificates by default?
Yes. Every export shipment travels with an EN 10204 3.1 inspection certificate showing chemistry, tensile properties and dimensional data for the actual heat. This is our default, not a paid add-on.
What are your typical lead times for EU and US buyers?
Standard grades ship 2–4 weeks from PO confirmation. Add 5–10 days sea freight to European destinations and 20–25 days to US East Coast under normal conditions. Custom grades or specialty packaging may extend production time.
Can you handle small trial orders before volume commitment?
Yes. We support new customers with sample lots and small trial orders — typically 1–5 tonnes — before ramping to volume. Contact our quote desk to arrange a sample.
What documentation do you provide for EU and US customs clearance?
For EU shipments we provide A.TR movement certificate to support duty-free entry under the EU-Turkey Customs Union. For US shipments we provide certificate of origin and any HS-code-specific documentation required. Discuss requirements with our export desk.
