What buyers actually need to specify
Cut-to-length wire looks like a commodity from the outside. Inside a fastener mill, a mesh producer or a welding-electrode plant, one millimetre of length variance across a pallet becomes a real problem. Every RFQ should specify:diameter (Ø1.00–10.00 mm atOSSO Wire),length (typical 70–3,000 mm),length tolerance (±0.5 mm is a tight-but-achievable target),end preparation (deburred, chamfered or square-cut), andpackaging (pallet bundles, wooden crates, plastic crates).
Length tolerance and why it drives downstream cost
The most common mistake in a cut-to-length RFQ is not asking for a tighter tolerance than you need — it is not asking at all. Loose tolerance produces variance that a robotic handling cell cannot compensate for, and a fastener mill’s operator ends up slowing the header. Specify the tolerance you actually need, and the supplier can quote accurately against it.
Do not assume ‘standard’ is tight enough.
Straightening: the invisible quality variable
Straightened cut-to-length wire behaves predictably in feeders and dies. Poorly straightened wire jams handling equipment and produces cosmetic defects on finished parts. Ask about the straightening method (roller-die or rotary), the number of passes, and whether the supplier verifies straightness on a fixed cadence.

Packaging for export: bundles, crates and container fit
For sea-freight export, packaging matters as much as production. Pallet bundles with hardwood spacers protect ends during multi-stop handling. Wooden crates are heavier but ideal for oversized shipments.

EN 10204 3.1 for cut-to-length wire
Every export shipment should travel with an EN 10204 3.1 inspection certificate showing chemistry, tensile properties and dimensional verification for the actual heat. If you are buying cut-to-length wire without a 3.1 certificate, your downstream customer may reject the incoming lot. Insist on 3.1 as a default, not an option.
